At 9 o’clock on the morning of October 8, the number of vehicles returning to Shanghai has increased significantly in the Fengjing service area of G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway. Many citizens choose to leave early to avoid the peak, and more passengers can rest in the rest area of the service area, and the atmosphere is busy and orderly. "In order to avoid congestion, we set off at 5 o’clock this morning." Mr. Wei, who returned to Shanghai from Quzhou, Zhejiang, said that although there were many cars along the way, the overall traffic was smooth.

According to Zhu Chao, deputy stationmaster of Shanghai-Kunming Expressway Public Security Inspection Station of Songjiang Branch of Shanghai Public Security Bureau, since October 5th, the traffic returning to Shanghai has started to increase one after another. Six days before the National Day holiday this year, the traffic volume of G60 Expressway in the first six days was basically the same as that in the same period last year. As this year’s holiday is one more day than in previous years, the total traffic is expected to increase slightly.

In response to the return traffic during this year’s National Day holiday, Songjiang traffic control department has taken a number of safeguard measures-substantially increasing the deployment of police force, which is more than 50% higher than usual, and strengthening the duty at key nodes of the expressway; Cooperate with expressway management to station tractors and wreckers at accident-prone points; Enable drones to fly at low altitude in areas prone to congestion such as service areas and elevated road sections, and remind drivers to pay attention to driving safety by shouting, so as to fully ensure the smooth, orderly and safe passage of return traffic.
