Zhanjiang is the first batch of demonstration cities and national demonstration zones for marine economic innovation and development in China. It has the longest coastline in China, with an area of 16,000 square kilometers beyond the minus 10m isobath, and has the natural advantage of developing marine pastures. At the same time, Zhanjiang also has 3,500 deep-sea cages, accounting for 70% of Guangdong Province, more than 200 aquatic products processing enterprises, and the annual output value of the aquatic products industry chain is more than 50 billion yuan, covering seven systems of the entire aquatic products industry chain, including aquaculture, aquaculture seed industry, aquatic products distribution processing, equipment manufacturing, import and export trade, feed accessories and supporting services. In recent years, the port industry has been growing, and green steel, green petrochemical and green energy have become local pillar industries. These industries have been built into an industrial chain with upstream and downstream correlation, horizontal coupling development and comprehensive competitiveness, and are moving towards the development goal of world-class industrial clusters.
Different from the traditional steel, petrochemical and energy industries, in Zhanjiang, the names of these industries should be preceded by a "green", which also reflects Zhanjiang’s emphasis on green development.
Sandworm is a special food in Zhanjiang, and it is very sensitive to the environment. Before Baowu Group Zhanjiang Iron and Steel settled in Zhanjiang, it was asked whether the arrival of the steel plant would affect the local environment and the survival of sand worms.
Over the years, Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Factory has stood tall, and people have seen a modern factory like a garden instead of a traditional steel factory full of coal ash and carbon slag. It is understood that Zhanjiang Iron and Steel has implemented 2,728 ultra-low emission transformations, becoming the first and only A-level enterprise with ultra-low emission of waste gas in Guangdong Province, and the air pollution emission level is lower than the EU level. In addition, eight solid waste disposal centers have been set up in the factory to turn waste into treasure, making it the first steel enterprise in the industry to realize solid waste without leaving the factory. In terms of wastewater treatment, Zhanjiang Iron and Steel uses MVR evaporation crystallization technology to make the wastewater discharged into the sea into industrial salt, realizing the transformation from "three drops of water" to "one grain of salt", becoming the first enterprise in the industry to realize zero discharge of wastewater in the whole process, and guarding Zhanjiang, the "seafood and food capital of China", with practical actions.
Zhongke (Guangdong) Refining and Chemical Project, which is also an important industrial enterprise in Zhanjiang, has a phase I environmental protection investment of 3.688 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 10% of the total investment, including more than 40 treatment facilities and measures such as wastewater, waste gas, volatile organic compounds, solid waste, noise, environmental risk prevention and control, and groundwater pollution prevention. Zhongke Refining & Chemical Company adopts the most advanced production technology and environmental protection management technology, pays close attention to environmental protection management and risk control in the whole production process, and establishes and improves the environmental protection responsibility system for all employees. In 2021, the discharged wastewater and waste gas not only reached 100% of the standard discharge, but also fell far below the national discharge limit, and the total discharge amount was far below 50% of the total allowable amount for the whole year.
In 2022, Zhanjiang continued to expand and strengthen the port industry, and the BASF (Guangdong) integrated base project with a total investment of 10 billion euros was fully built and the first set of equipment was put into production; The No.3 blast furnace system of Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. reached production and efficiency, and the 1 million tons hydrogen-based shaft furnace project started construction; The first phase of Zhongke Refining & Chemical Project achieved production and efficiency, and the second phase was promoted in an orderly manner, becoming the first enterprise in Zhanjiang with an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan; Lianjiang Nuclear Power Phase I Project and Ukrainian Oil Field Group Development Project started construction & HELIP; … The construction of large-scale industrial clusters in Zhanjiang was accelerated, and the regional GDP increased by 6% and the investment in fixed assets increased by 20% throughout the year.
