These four new cars are not only mid-to high-end models launched by the top three domestic state-owned car companies, but also three of them can be called new flagship products of independent brands at present. Although these four models have reached or even surpassed the joint venture brand models at the same level in terms of technology and design, it does not mean that their own brands and strength have risen to a new level. Because these four new cars are not completely self-developed, the independent elements are only reflected in the design or partial configuration, but the core technology is still "brought", and three of them can find their "joint venture prototype" in China.
These four models are a new generation Roewe 750 (or R95) from SAIC. The new flagship of FAW Pentium B90, the new flagship of dongfeng fengshen A60;; And C131 of FAW Hongqi. First, let’s take a look at these four independent new cars.

As the largest automobile enterprise in China, SAIC has an early road to its own brand.The prototype of the current Roewe 750 is the Rover 75 model under the British bankrupt enterprise Rover. SAIC launched its own brand Roewe after acquiring its technical data, and the first model was Roewe 750.Rover 75 has been a product in the 1990s. Although there are some genes in the technology of the old BMW 5 Series, times have changed, and the current Roewe 750 is showing its old age in terms of technology and design. It is imperative to launch its replacement model.

Although SAIC’s manufacturing capacity and efficiency are first-class, this can be seen from the acquisition of Roewe 750 technology to the speed of launching new products. However, the ability to produce and own technical intellectual property rights does not mean that SAIC has completely mastered and digested the technical platform of the existing Roewe 750. In other words,Even if SAIC has basically digested the technology of Roewe 750, it is very difficult to design a mid-to high-end model that surpasses the current Roewe 750. After all, the road of independent research and development of SAIC is not long.Compared with German brands with a history of over a hundred years, even Japanese and Korean brands with a history of half a century, SAIC is also a young latecomer.

Therefore, it is a wise choice to choose the technology platform of the existing joint venture partner to ensure the continuation of Roewe’s high-end products. SAIC aims at the Epsilon II platform of its partner GM, on which two intermediate models of Regal and LaCrosse of GM Buick brand were born. According to the information currently exposed,SAIC Roewe 750(R95) is developed based on BP31 platform, and this platform technology is similar to Epsilon II platform.

Judging from the application materials obtained,The body size of SAIC Roewe R95 has reached 4996mm/1857mm/1502mm, which is only millimeters different from that of the new LaCrosse. Its wheelbase is 2837mm, which is consistent with the new LaCrosse.In addition, from the obtained spy photos of the chassis, the new generation 750 is indeed very similar to the LaCrosse based on Epsilon II in the rear suspension structure.

In terms of power, in line with previous speculation, SAIC Roewe R95 will share the power system with the new LaCrosse.Three naturally aspirated engines of 2.0L, 2.4L and 3.0L were introduced.Its maximum power reaches 154 HP (113kW), 186 HP (137kW) and 195kW respectively. The 3.0L V6 engine is imported from Horton, a subsidiary of GM.

It is reported that the new Roewe 750The Roewe logo will be hung on the 2.0L and 2.4L models, while the Shanghai brand logo will be hung on the 2.4L high-profile and 3.0L models, both of which will be launched under the name of R95.
Although SAIC officials have not clearly indicated the technical source of the platform of R95 at present, perhaps not in the future, we can see the relationship between this flagship model and LaCrosse from the body size, chassis and powertrain. Epsilon II is one of the main platforms of GM, and the adoption of this platform means that SAIC Roewe R95 will stand at a higher starting point in terms of space, safety, power and comfort.

The design is atmospheric and inherits Roewe’s family-style appearance. In addition, excellent manufacturing capacity and quality are also one of the selling points of SAIC products. The workmanship of the current Roewe 750 is no less than that of the joint venture model at the same level, and SAIC will definitely be more careful when the new generation 750 goes on the market.
